About the Event
In this course we will work with a small group of adults to dig deeper into our relationships and connections with the Natural World . We will become more knowledgeable of those beings that form the natural communities around us, working to recognize more species of herbs, birds, animals, trees and herptiles. There will be emphasis on opening and using all of our senses to take in the nuanced messages of our world (expect to be blindfolded!) and we will work at becoming more skilled observers of animals and the tracks and signs they leave us. We will do much of this learning by engaging in games and activities, telling stories, and with in-depth explorations of the wilds. There will also be some segments of solo activity and quiet sits to allow for connection, observation, and digestion of our learning. Additionally we will supplement this learning with some participatory activities in wild edibles, cooking with fire, and wilderness skills like way-finding and direction telling based on the landscapes’ ques in the Driftless area.
If you would like to deepen your awareness of and connection to the Natural Realm in a supportive, multifaceted and lighthearted learning environment, come join us for these fun couple of days this summer.
This program will be active and we will be covering some challenging ground off trail. Please inquire if you have challenges with hiking and outdoor activities. This is an adult program. If you are interested as an older teen or parent of an older teen please inquire with us as to opportunities.
This program will take place primarily at our homestead at 14502 Burrows Ln, Viola, WI. We will likely spend much of one of our days exploring an area of the Kickapoo Valley Reserve which is only a 10 minute drive away.
Cost of this program is $250 and includes a dinner of local, partially wild, and wholesome fare that we will prepare together on Saturday evening(participants are to bring their own lunches). IF you have any challenges with this cost PLEASE inquire about the $125 scholarships we offer to help in these situations.
