About the Event
These weekly sessions will be educational and experiential forays into learning about our Living Landscape; we will be personally engaging with the progression of plant growth and wildlife activity as spring reaches fullness and turns into summer. There will be lessons in tracking, Nature observation, foraging, plant and tree ID, bird familiarity and song, herpetiles and invertebrates, and in the greater ecology of the Driftless. Though fully educational, these sessions will be in a free-form, survey format of moving through the landscape and absorbing the unfoldings visible each week. There will also be adequate opportunities for personal connection, listening and watching, and absorbing the less quantifiable benefits of time immersed in Nature. Participants are welcome to join-in once, sporadically, or consistently. Group size will be kept small, registration is required by the end of the Monday preceding each Thursdays session.
Email Nicholas at wildroots.handcrafts@gmail.com with inquiries or to register for sessions. Open to all ages that are excited about nature, can maintain focus, and are able to participate cooperatively with group activity. We will cover irregular ground, be mostly off-trail, and potentially get wet and dirty in this course.
The suggested tuition for a session is $40, payable at commencement of the session. A sliding is available for this program; please consider adjusting to $25 if this expense is challenging, or $55 if you find this amount easy to pay. This program will take place at a few selected locations on wild lands in the La Farge area. Details will be issued to the group that registers weekly.
