About the Event
The Wisconsin River is a tracker's paradise when conditions are right. The sandbars, floodplain woods, and sloughs harbor a wonderful array of birds, mammals, reptiles, fish, amphibians, invertebrates, and flora. This will be a day-long workshop focused learning about this landscape, particularly through exploring and learning the track and sign left behind by this myriad wildlife on the receptive surfaces of this landscape.
We will cover the foot shape and morphology of our local wildlife, the gaits used commonly by various animals, and the sign left by wildlife as they mark, travel, feed, scat, migrate, and play upon this river's edges. The timing should be great for migrating bird life, feeding and reproducing mammals, and the water being down leaving lots of surfaces. I will work to scout out lots of great learning opportunities, making this a solid day of education for those wanting to see more in the living landscape, those using tracking in their working lives, and those preparing for tracking certifications.
To register for this workshop please email Nicholas at wildroots.handcrafts@gmail.com for instructions on payment and more. The cost for this program will be $70 for the day but some scholarships will be offered to those for whom this expense is financially challenging. Please inquire when you register if this is helpful.
Location(s) will be in the area surrounding Spring Green, Wisconsin. Exactly where we will start and what sites we will explore will be determined closer to the class date and participants will be notified earlier in the week of the class.
